It's a pretty consistent anthology. it's a nod to Batman's history and potential futures and while the art isn't always like Sean Murphy, it's still offers some pretty cool stuff.

Heh, like usual I haven't made it through my pull! But I did read a lot of them and three of the five books I consider the best being published right now were released this week so yay:

I was just going to say, that if BREAKING BAD is no. 2, that can only mean ADVENTURE TIME is no. 1.

Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. It's not a book I would recommend. Simone's doing okay I guess on it, and it's better than The Movement, and this is the strongest arc so far of it, but.

I had another tiny week this week, because next week all the publishers decded to just put out everything. I've read (so far):

It wasn't the plotting that was iffy, but the dialogue and narration. At one point in the World's Finest arc, not only did he have inner monologue from Batwoman and Wonder Woman, but Chase, Medusa, Croc, Firebird or whoever, Kate's dad, and Manhunter. Just so many voices competing for space. Which was a persistent

Did anyone try out his Choose-Your-Own-Adventure Hamlet book?

I finished it earlier this week and was all like "BEST BOOK OF 2013!!" And then I thought about it, reflected on it, on that common Tartt themes and the way the plot unfolded, the allusions and the machinations and characters and still think it's the best 2013 book I read.

Great list — I think Wonder Woman, MIND MGMT, and Saga are the strongest books being put out right now, so I'm happy to see them all represented.

Zero Year, to me, feels like it was placed at this exact moment, so Snyder wouldn't have to follow through with Johns's "Forever Evil" mumbo jumbo, And he's been doing a great job with the Batman title since he started.

Good God, Damian shot up to being my second favorite Robin really quickly.

I pour over all these comics blogs constantly looking for the same degree of insight and, I dunno, goddamn class Sava brings to these write-ups with no luck. And though I don't always agree with his assessments, these are a consistent highlight of my reading week. (Also, the discussions are a blast.)

I'm not! Well, I've read up till the 0 Month stuff, but haven't followed through. My boyfriend has them all (he likes Nikola Scott) and they've been on the to-read pile, but…that's a pile that grows increasingly larger every day.

I don't think Snyder's playing the subtle angle for this storyline at all. I think he's making a loud, big, bright origin. And so there's a lot of elements that have been making this book an exciting read for me:

The only way your taste is suspect is if you're walking around saying Scott Lobdell is doing fantastic work…of any kind.

But that could be said of ANY writer. Some have really great stories, some are like, "Well, I could see what you're doing there, but…."

Unless you have Marvel titles — where they raise their prices for the trade.

Small week for me — which was okay because my time has been devoted to The Goldfinch.

I had a smaller week, but with some of my favorite titles:

The Wake 5 — What a conclusion to the first act. Heartbreaking and gorgeously delivered — Snyder and Murphy and Hollingsworth are all killing it on this title. But now it won't be till February until this book returns.
