Really, any group of anything. If watching movies has taught me one thing, its that if all the birds start flying (or animals start running) west, I should get my ass west as well.

One of the most important pieces to know - If you are betting with a 10% vig (ie. -110 line), then you need to win 52.38% of your non-push bets to break even. If the vig is 5%, it is 51.22%. If the vig is 15% it is 53.49% and it is 54.55% for a 20% vig.
Also, if you are betting in Las Vegas you will not see funky…
It really is ridiculous. I have always hated that ability to cut weight was a significant factor in the results of a fight. It almost defeats the purpose of weight classes when you have a 125-130 lb flyweight fighting someone who is 150-160 lbs. It seems like the easiest solution would be to just change the timing…
I never said it was a bad idea and I understand what it means. It is definitely a good first step. But it is also a pretty useless metric for the people inside the situation since it doesn’t really say anything about whether the threat has been resolved or if they can safely emerge from cover. And that was the point…
Interesting, but also not that useful in the context of this discussion since it doesn’t mention at all how to handle “bystanders” who don’t pose an immediate threat but could be the shooter they are looking for. That is the crux of the issue. If you only have cleared the room of all obvious threats, but there is…
And this is where I have to disagree. If the cops have not identified the shooter (or source of the noise), there is no reason to believe it is safe enough to calmly wait for the police to escort you out. And even if I did follow your beliefs, I tend to doubt the cops made loud announcements that the room had been…
So basically if all the cops did was check for someone waving a gun around, the fact that the cops “cleared the room” is meaningless for the people in it. They still have every reason to believe there is a shooter in their midst and to want to take cover until they can quickly reach an exit.
How can they have removed all perceived threats without vetting each person in the room? If “clearing the room” just means that they did a quick check and didn’t see anyone with a gun in their hand, then it is a pretty useless metric.
I don’t see why that would matter. Like the First Amendment, the Fifth Amendment protects you from actions by the state and not a private entity like the NFL. You have the right not to testify against yourself, but you don’t have a right to continued employment by a private company.
You are doing a heckuva job dismissing me and the conversation as you keep replying to comments. Maybe that is because that was not really what you meant but are not engaging in some revisionist history in an attempt to save face.
Talk about moving the goalposts. We were discussing Mayweather’s general strategy of letting McGregor tire himself out in this one particular fight, not an analysis of Mayweather’s entire career against a diverse set of fighters.
And I don’t think that anyone has ever argued that McGregor posed no threat at all or…
Not comparing the two directly but instead comparing the concept of complex as they would apply to each sport. Sorry if that was too complex for you to follow.
Tonight what Mayweather did was relatively simple and the general strategy we have been discussing which he employed tonight was neither elaborate nor complex.
And you weakly said “whatever makes you feel better” so I returned the favor and said “good one” back. Apparently that was way too complex for you to figure out.
Let me answer your question with a question. What did you mean when you said “ummm, good one” earlier in the thread? Now let’s see if you are capable of applying that answer to my comment.
No, it is not a complex strategy. It may be more complex than needed because a simple strategy will do. But that does not make it objectively complex. If I tried to bat against a professional pitcher, he should be able to strike me out just by throwing fastballs. If he decided to throw me a curve, that would…
Ummm, good one.
How does the opponent change whether the strategy was elaborate? When I can explain it in under 20 words, how is it elaborate? Did you mean unnecessary and not elaborate?
That’s because I was pretty sure anything original would go right over your head, like this fight did.
You may very well be right. I wasn’t going to go back to figure it out and decided to just give him the benefit of the doubt on that part of his comment since that wasn’t relevant to my initial criticism of his comment.
Letting someone who has poor endurance tire themselves out is not a large, elaborate strategy.
