Grills are part of the brand identity. And it's easier to make a fake grill look good than it is to make it look good without one. It's a lot easier on a 911 or Corvette where the front end slopes down until it's pretty thin.
I checked out Kia's UK web site, and their lineup seems better as a whole. Not terribly different. But somehow better. But hey, they only get a 7 year warranty. So HA!
