I am of the same mind as you about this. It sort of localizes the grieving period. There are a lot of people I know that just hate December because of how many people we've lost over the year just all over that month. Like it'd be one thing if it were one death on one day, but its like looking back there is several

Its one thing to use shame-campaigns against the powerful and what not, and to hold people with out-sized influence to task about things they've said and done, but I don't see the point in publishing and shaming ordinary folks over this kind of stuff after the fact. Like, everyone has likely done something

As much as I would like to see this turn into a major embarrassment for Republicans in general, I have more concerns about what this means for privacy. Even if I disagree with many of these people on political and social terms, it disturbs me that Bush took what I would assume many of these people expected to be

Ok, I've got to give him credit. In a media landscape where people are constantly trying to reinvent themselves to maintain relevancy, he's decided to ride this train all the way into the station.

I read an article on The Root, by a gay black man, talking about her problematic relationship with this word, and he got in the best dig.

Can someone explain to this moron (referring to Banks here) that alternate uses of a word don't erase the historical uses of that word? Like, maybe she's completely sincere about how her mom used faggot to refer to misogynistic men (even though it sounds like a load of bs), it still doesn't negate the fact that faggot

By the way, good job in how you keep deflecting me asking for actual hard proof and instead just keep calling me naïve.

Embarrassing me how? I ask for something, anything that would stand in for some kind of actual proof of wrong doing and you come back at me as 'well that's just how things work'. The only person I'm embarrassed for is you.

Here is the thing though: The crux of the whole issue with when she sued over the rights of TKAMB is that she did sign the rights over, but she didn't know what she was signing. Hence, anything that the lawyer produces would still be suspect without independent verification.

And I bet you'd be fun to have on a jury:

Oh my, how ridiculous of me to expect something in the way of actual evidence of wrong doing! How completely naïve!

It sounds kinda pretentious and full of herself, but I was honestly expecting worse, like for her to call Lee a straight up hack or something. But perhaps that's the literary equivalent of a sick burn.

There is also a legal difference between an opinion and statements of fact. The lawyer hasn't said 'Well I think Lee is ok with this', she's simply stated 'She's ok with this'. The first is an opinion. The second is a lawyer communicating her clients wishes. Which is well within the power of a lawyer to do. Absent

By the way, have you ever heard of power of attorney? Now, in this particular case, I'm not sure whether or not this lawyer does in fact have power of attorney over Lee's estate or is merely hired by Lee to conduct her business, but power of attorney is basically a one time document that allows another person to make

To reply to my first part: even if she were to write out a statement, by hand, which was absolutely verified to be done by her, there are still some that would claim she had been manipulated. The fact is, what's being asked of her is to prove a negative, which is basically impossible.

And in what way would we know that this written statement was actually generated by her, or accurately conveys her genuine wishes? Handwriting and signatures can be forged you know. And once again, unless someone other than her lawyer was the one to collect and deliver this message, I doubt anyone would accept it as

Like, what is the deal with Uber? Is it so insanely more affordable than a traditional taxi? Or is it just that much easier to catch a ride with Uber? Given all the bad press I see about this company, I'm trying to understand how the hell it's so popular?

I know this is going to sound stupid but has Uber put out anything about what their screening process for drivers is? Assuming they have one I mean.

The irony that you're demanding concrete proof of Lee's feelings and state of mind are astounding.

I don't do twitter, but you've peaked my interest: what did she say?
