Early John McTiernan + Shane Black + Schwarzenegger = GOLD
Early John McTiernan + Shane Black + Schwarzenegger = GOLD
Yeah. As far as I understand it, it was to be directed by James Bobin, with a Lord & Miller script. James Bobin did good work on FotC and Muppets but, by all accounts, his Alice is TERRIBLE. But I'd really like to see what's in that Lord & Miller script.
Also listening to Chelsea Wolfe, Miike Snow, the new Aesop Rock, and The Moon & the Melodies, a collaboration between The Cocteau Twins and Harold Budd from 1986.
It's very very good.
4 years is FAR TOO LONG to wait between Wright movies.
I was genuinely looking forward to it. It sounds like the exact kind of dumb, weird project that Lord & Miller could've made truly great.
This Lines record is good workin' music.
I am thinking about it! Lately I have very much been enjoying Clipping's Wriggle, Pagan by Palmistry, and that excellent Geoff Barrow Judge Dredd project.
Best & Worst? Most surprising? Which of these should I listen to today while I work on a very boring manual?
Yeah that's definitely him in the background! Man I miss John Peel's show and JP in general.
I hadn't heard any of his 80s stuff! I thought the early tape mountain goats stuff was his earliest work!
I didn't know it was an Aaron Sorkin joint!
Also, I just found out he's writing another novel, and it's coming in 2017!
The entirety of John Darnielle's career to date, and some other stuff probably too.
I keep thinking I'll go back and retry S1 but I just bring myself to do it. Pacing was one of my big issues in S2, so it sounds like I might fare a little better there.
I'd heard it was an improvement!
You see, this sounds exactly like my problem with S1. The stuff where they know where they're going and what they want to do is great. There's some killer action directing, and a lot of the stuff concerning Wilson Fisk is just stellar. But as a whole they don't seem to have any real thematic or dramatic goals, so as…
I want someone to cut a 2 hour movie of DD Season 1 and another one of S2 so I can just get the good bits and prep for Defenders (which I'm super excited about), but not have to go through the slog of a whole season.
I found Daredevil S1 so boring and unfocussed that I couldn't finish it. Because of this I haven't seen S2. OTOH, I absolutely adored Jessica Jones. I would rank it as one of the best things Netflix has produced (Up there with Sens8 and Stranger Things).
Yeah, I see what you're saying. All of their post-matrix work is incredibly hard to either embrace as 100% A Good Thing or dismiss as just A Bad Movie. They all have major issues, but through a combination of heart, technical mastery and undeniable imagination, they manage to transcend those issues to become something…
What, John Goodman's Star Power isn't enough for people nowadays?
