I always thought the distinction between the way the music is presented and the way the characters are presented in ILD is in conflict partly because the film's approach to the folk scene and Llewyn Davis' approach to it are very different.

It kind of does take it seriously though, or at least it takes the music seriously. Every song in that is lovingly shot and given import by the cinema even when the characters dismiss it.
Also, isn't Big Lebowski just one long ode to counter culture?

God, I agree. Again, maybe the movie is terrible (I doubt it), but " The Coens….can’t take anything resembling an ideology or counterculture seriously" and "the Coens as smug misanthropes" are just crazy statements. Has he watched their other movies?
Did he ever write about ILD?

Oh my god i can't wait!!!

My faves so far are the Anthony Mendez' fantastic narration and every face Rogelio makes ever.

I started watching Jane The Virgin, am 4 episodes in and absolutely love it.

The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies

Hunky Dory?

I love Nerdwriter1. Checking out Now You See It … now

I really like some of their stuff, but I'm not a big fan of the Fan Theory episodes. That recent one on Vegas was just fantastic.

Someone mention the Film Theory youtube channel the other day, and it got me thinking: Are there any GOOD film analysis/criticism youtube channels? I already subscribe to the Every Frame A Painting channel and Mark Kermode's channel. Do you guys have any suggestions for others?

What's left to write for the S5 reviews?

On the upside that same instability gave us more Adam Pally on our screens, which can only ever be a good thing. https://media0.giphy.com/me…

Maybe? It's the newest LG.

For some reason, my brand new android phone won't let me play Pocket Mortys. :(

- Watched Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation, an excellent film about Tom Cruise running and shooting and punching.

Oh wicked. I just discovered it. It's so great! (Also The Bring It On musical is SURPRISINGLY good!)

I know! He's so good!

There's also his previous hip hop influenced musical In The Heights which also shares some cast members with Hamilton: https://www.youtube.com/wat…
