Virtual Boy is dead, long live Virtual Boy.

My go-to description of Tank! is “the James Bond theme as written by Charles Mingus,” it is incomparably badass. Kanno is a goddess.

“And, most of all, is Yoko Kanno coming back to do the soundtrack again?”

There’s not really a way to know from the title of the article that it is just going to be a bunch of weird and silly shit-talk. I agree with Thewalkingdude. I remember a time where this site wasn’t quite so... Gawker-esque... and was more about positivity within the genre, rather than pointless negativity that serves

And it isn’t every other creature, so statistically some places it will be close to 100%, which will affect that whole ecosystem. It’s a big universe. Some planets will be desolated.

They could just gray out everything and rely on approved commenters to unhide only the non-porn via a star system. Just spitballing here.

I think I’m on of maybe a small segment of the population who might think that the blurriness and low resolution sort of adds to the production design. In a way, I think it feel better in a softer treatment. It kind of stays true to the deco/noir genre of soft lighting and high contrast.

People might not think animation needs “special effects” because you can draw anything, but Disney’s multi-plane camera for Snow White was pretty major innovation in creating depth when compositing shots.

“If you’re an A.V. Club reader, you probably share our general cynicism for promotional nonsense.”

We can put a man on the moon, but he still has to poop into a bag there.

This was more like the United States having won the revolution against Britain, then having America reinvaded 30 years later, Washington DC blown up, and Thomas Jefferson getting murdered by his treasonous son. I wouldn’t chalk that up as a success.

And how did Luke communicate with Leia that he needed rescuing?! We’ve never seen the force do that before! The force has rules clearly established in ANH! It’s for choking people, getting them to do what you want and for lifting rocks!”

I will eagerly agree that Old Lace looks phenomenal, especially for a TV budget.

People tend to forget that this is how the original Jurassic Park did the dinosaurs — mostly through live animatronics, with CGI only used in full-length or action shots. After all, the film was planned out with the expectation that they’d use stop-motion models for the long shots, and since that technique never

Its more that they just burn through episodes because they do the bomb format for a week or a month at at time. Since cartoons take forever to animate they basically burn through how many episodes they have prepared and then have to go months until they can make more of them.

“Look at Star Trek Discovery”

Trying to push streaming. I’m guessing most kids are probably fine with this. I prefer television, but I’m a dinosaur compared to kids these days. Wonder how things will be 5 years from now. Look at Star Trek Discovery.

I agree, but then I’ve also found I identify more with Grandpa Simpson than Bart, or even Homer, and I’m not sure when that happened.

The Hound should’ve just let that wight walker go at Cersei chain-free. What a satisfying-ass finale that would’ve been.
