@luckycharms: The article does have CCD's in mind because histograms are universal for CCD's and CMOS's. In my personal experience with my DSLR (CMOS) I find it easier to fix a slightly under exposed image because you still have some detail. If you over expose everything goes to white and you cant recover.

Fresh ground coffee seems to help vs the pre-ground stuff. The sooner before brewing it is ground the better. Grind-and-brew coffee makers make it convenient also.
