Before I saw the movie tonight, I kept seeing headlines along the lines of, "A DC movie that isn't afraid of levity!" "A DC movie that actually has a sense of humor!"

"But don't be me!
'Cause if you grow up and you go and O.D.
They're gonna come for me
And Imma have to grow a goatee
And get a disguise and hide
'Cause it'll be my fault
So don't do drugs,
And do exactly as I don't
'Cause I'm bad for you!"
Sooner or later…
I think songs like "Stan" and "Kim" are less shocking, and more cliched, today - but another song from that period, "The Kids," is *really* well-made in its evil. In fact, I always replace "Kim" with "The Kids" when I listen to the MMLP.
Interesting to read your negative review of the song: when I first heard it, I thought it was less original than it might have been when it came out. But the ending was interesting - because I read it less as "Eminem wants you to know not to take him so literally" than as "The Eminem character is enough of a sociopath…
"I don't know if he's actually writing the score: whenever I go near his door, all I hear is him shouting, 'GODDAMMIT BLACK KLOBBER STOP TAKING MY LIVES""
So, will this be the THREE MEN AND A LITTLE LADY of the franchise?

"Nobody cares about Baywatch."
To Disney: "It was booty killed the beast."
Pierce Brosnan was the best part, obviously.
Don't worry: they'll CGI Pierce Brosnan to make him younger, so he can sing in this one, too.
See, I was just thinking it was amusing, since Quaid has also played Clinton (in THE SPECIAL RELATIONSHIP).
LA LA LAND (the odds-on favorite) and HIDDEN FIGURES were among the Top 25 High-Grossing Movies of the Year, so it still seems odd to me.
Interesting choice, seeing how this years' broadcast had the second-lowest Oscar ratings of all time (losing out only to the all-time low that was the 2008 ceremony).
The New York Times pan of that production was pretty awesome:
From "Bon Appetit": "Got me spread like a buffet…"
YOU DARN FOOL YOU DARN FOOL
CAN'T YOU PLAINLY SEE
IT'S JUST AN AVACADO
THAT MY GRANDMA SENT TO ME
MANY A-MILES I'VE TRAVELED
A THOUSAND MILES OR SO
I'VE NEVER SEEN AN AVACADO WITH [insert better joke]
