I've read THE SEASON and ADVENTURES IN THE SCREEN TRADE, and I never saw his writing as self-important/self-regarding; if anything, he comes off as openly insecure. One of the blurbs on the back of THE SEASON describes Goldman as "crabby and opinionated," and that's basically right to me.

And of course, John "Albee only wrote three good plays in his entire damn career" Simon would have something to say.

Well, I'm sure you've learned more from a three-minute record then [INSERT FINISHED JOKE]

EVERYBODYFORMALIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINE

"Meg, do you think Jack really loves me?"
"You know I don't care, 'cause Jack really bugs me…"

I'm not a White Stripes fan either, so I think I'll just start singing one of the only song of theirs I really like:

"He's a little extreme!"

Why do you think there are so many "space" movies these days? GRAVITY, INTERSTELLAR, THE MARTIAN, ARRIVAL, PASSENGERS, etc.

No comment on the movie itself, but boy, remember when people wondered how many years they'd have to wait for a new Terrence Malick film?

I have this memory… of a scene in CONFESSIONS OF A TEENAGE DRAMA QUEEN, where Lindsay Lohan is doing a school play, and she sings a big, flashy, "I'm gonna make it on the red carpet of life, mom!" version of Stevie Wonder's "Living for the City."

The more I think about this movie, the stupider and lazier it seems.

Glad they're doing FENCES, because that's a good place to start with Wilson—that, and "Ma Rainey's Black Bottom." (My favorites were "King Hedley II" and "Gem of the Ocean," but that's probably a minority opinion.)

Looking into December, I can't BELIEVE I didn't know that Denzel Washington's FENCES is coming this year!

For some reason, the Gene Wilder scene I'm thinking of, from "The Producers," is just Wilder explaining the concept of "creative accounting" to Max Bialystock.

Disagree about the credits song:

[Narration]
"Life is hard for kids today. They have to program everything. Dude, they even need computers just to sing."

"I hope there's an Asylum version of this starring Val Kilmer." - Brad Jones

I hope it's at least as good as their 2013 film, ATLANTIC RIM.

GODDAMMIT :)

Surprised me: I rent films on Amazon all the time.
