Still the funniest comment I've seen about the show:
Still the funniest comment I've seen about the show:
Edwin: "JOHN WILKES IS NOT ON THAT STAGE WITH ME YOU GUYS!!!!"
MY BEAUTIFUL DARK TWISTED FANTASY: Fantastic beats, and Kanye has nothing to say over them. I mean, for fuck's sake, "So Appalled" is GREAT as a beat, dark and sad - and what do they do? "I'm so appalled! / I might buy the mall! / Just to show these niggas how much more I have in store!"
And he still got Zoe Kazan instead of me.
"SOMEONE has been in my ROOM again! I HATE that! I HATE IT! I HATE YOU! I HATE YOOOOOOOOOOOOOU!"
I was pleasantly surprised by THE INTERN: I expected it to be AARP Porn ("Old people are the BEST people!") - but instead it was charming, and it didn't condescend to Anne Hathaway's character.
The two things I remember about that movie: That line, and the fact that Christmas Day in California was sunny and snow-free.
I just re-watched the "Mooby boardroom" scene and HOLY FUCK the direction is fucking terrible.
As a Kevin Smith fan - and as someone who's still confused by the hatred some have for him - I can see that viewpoint. I love JAY AND SILENT BOB STRIKE BACK, but the endless gay jokes got really, really old.
"What's he like?"
"God? (pause) Lonely. But funny! He's got a great sense of humor. Take sex, for example: there's nothing funnier than the ridiculous faces you people make mid-coitus."
"Sex is a joke in Heaven?"
"The way I hear it, it's mostly a joke down here, too."
Frank Wildhorn is the poor man's Andrew Lloyd Webber.
I think it would translate, but if it didn't, it'd be in keeping with Daniel Handler's other novels - which are so delighted with the written, literary word, they almost seem expressly written so you can't transfer their voice to the screen.
I think the movie got more of the correct tone than it's given credit for: there are individual scenes that really work, the art direction is great, it has a gorgeous score, and they got the sardonic "Snicket" narration right. It's weird, because it felt like the makers had the right ideas going into it.
Well, he is a brother.
You know, I can see why a screen Olaf might need a more comic vibe than the book Olaf.
The latter, and I'm scheduled for a Ventral Fornix drain tomorrow.
…Well, I gotta say, I did not see that coming.
It's hard for me to make fun of THE ROOM these days, because…
Whoops :)
Disagree, I think his music work is damn solid. Honestly, I think it's the other way around: his music is really good, but his lyrics can lack edge and force.
