As much as I miss Percy, the show had always been flowing forward with such pace, and throwing status quo altering twists that I can see why they didn't want him to become stagnant as a villain.

It's interesting to see whether Reese would have reacted differently. There was a thread in season one they dropped very early in which Reese was trying to dig into Finch's background or try and goad some backstory out of him.
