Jackson HAD to get this right. It set up the whole movie as one that us LotR fans were going to take seriously. Forget the computer generated battle for the ring at the beginning, the computer generated Sauron and Ring. It’s the Shire introduction that sold it to all of us. He and the designers nailed it. If you’ve

I would watch a series that was just about The Shire and the hobbits who lived there. Their day-t0-day lives, birthdays, weddings, festivals. Maybe the craziest thing that happens is a shady merchant rolls into town one day selling “anti-Barrow Wight” oil, or something.

Except that California has robust protections for reproductive rights, so even if the federal level removes those protections, people in CA will be able to access that care.
Alabama does not. Federal law is the only thing standing between red states and a return to the bad old days. So, when we are having a discussion

Honestly, based on the headline, I thought the spread would be a lot bigger. Less than half want reproductive rights expanded? More than a third want them further curtailed? Those are pretty rough numbers, and I’m sure once you knock deep-blue states out of the mix, they become even more dire.

What do animals do when cornered? Lash out and attack. And the energy industry isn’t a house cat. They’re a pack of Tyrannosaurus Rexes.

This seems like just another famine from Africa, but with links to climate change, which affects all countries globally, this should be treated as very close to home.

QUIET! Amazon will hear you and make ANOTHER show

Honestly, it’s still probably truer and more respectful to the Lore than the Shadow series.

Warner Bros not committing to a second film (or filming simultaneously) is always going to bother me with this. And I can already see it in some of the Rotten Tomatoes reviews: https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/dune_2021

“...which is weird because Ubisoft is the home of the Need for Speed franchise and they somehow struggle at motion mechanics...”

Honestly, I could look past the being pushed to events, and the annoying attitude.

ATLAS? All The Latinos Are Suspect? Why would you ever name something like this ATLAS? That is just begging for trouble. Why not just call it Colossus, or Ultron?

I’m hoping for a much, much longer expository scene with nothing but one-sided dialogue and a giant information dump. I want it to be the fat baby of the Architect scene from The Matrix Reloaded and the last episode of Loki.

Prediction: This movie is gonna seem at first like a Force Awakens-type nostalgia exercise that’s just repeating the story beats from the original, and then about fifty minutes in it’s gonna bring all the weird shit from the sequels back in.

Lina Khan, who was a vocal critic of Big Tech in her work in academia and whom Facebook argued should recuse herself because of that work.

This dude is un-greyed and he can’t put together a coherent sentence. I’ll never understand this website and how they choose who is greyed vs. un-greyed.

Could have kept this one in the drafts.

For when Uncle Ben tells him to clean up the new droids before dinner instead of going into Tosche Station for new power converters.
