I’ve struggled with this for a long time. I’m definitely better but it was almost to the point where it was damaging my health. Tension headaches, insomnia, and occasional panic attack, and a mirage of other psychosomatic symptoms finally lead me to therapy that greatly helped.

I'm going to say e-book. I live in a small condo where space is at a premium. I also like the fact that I can sync the book to multiple devices. This way, if I forget my Kindle, I can read on my phone, tablet, or desktop.

I'm probably going to end up alone (which is fine) so I want to be prepared and live in a nice retirement community where a hot nurse will turn me regularly so I don't get bed sores so that keeps me motivated to save.

I save 15% pre tax. 9% to a Roth. 6% to a 401(k) to get the company match.

I can't wait to use this. Oh wait! I can't! My boss leaves my review on my desk with a sticky note that says sign and return when I'm gone on vacation or out to lunch.

Since I'm the resident banker on this site, I'd like to add that a lot of the time you will get better rates from smaller community banks and/or credit unions. That being said, a lot of these institutions are not at the top of the line when it comes to technology. We offer great rates at my credit union but we don't

Great article. Another unscrupulous thing we bankers do is using the term "cross-collateralization". For instance, if a family member passes and a survivor wants the deceased car and the deceased owes us for a car loan and a personal loan, we will make the family member not only take over the car loan but the personal

I'm 34 and fit as a fiddle. I go to the doctor regularly and all my labs are great. Actually, I'm in better shape than some 20 year olds.

Thanks. I've done a few of the things mentioned in your post. I could definitely do a few more things. I'll check out the power of now but I feel like I've read every self help book on the planet. I think it really boils down to (as said in your post and another) breaking it up into baby steps so you don't feel so

Thank you for the suggestions. Breaking stuff down into smaller steps definitely doesn't feel so overwhelming.

Okay.

I'd say the part of my life that needs hacking has no term but I would describe it as being miserable and doing nothing about it. My life is like the abused housewife that can't leave the husband who beats her. I'm in a job that I dislike in a company that is dying the death of a thousand paper cuts. I'm single and

Where do I send my co-pay for this lifehacker therapy? :)

Being out at work is difficult but I encourage people to be out as long as you won't undergo harm. At first, most co-workers and clients were ignorant and they had no exposure to someone who is gay. When I first came out, I got a lot of bible thumping quotes and they couldn't understand why how I could be Christian

What you say is true but generally people who have direct deposit into a checking account won't go through the hassle of opening a new checking, stopping the direct deposit, moving it to another institution, setting up their online banking and bill pay all over again. Cross-selling a checking account is one of our

Yes. Generally the loan rates are lower and the savings rates are higher. As said in other comments, there is more room for judgement calls than in a larger financial institutions. Also Credit Union fees tend to be generally lower. That being said, if you are reliant on having a branch close by, a credit union might

I can see by the sad emoticon that you aren't a fan of these fees. I do think adjustments could be made. I do like where a client must opt in now instead of before where they had to opt out.

I'm an assistant loan manager for a credit union. Our client base is what most people would call "challenged credit". We do the second chance accounts all the time. For us, we do not allow them to have a debit card for 6 months. If they have been good clients, we convert them over to a regular checking after that

I totally use the notes section of my phone to do this. It's really a great tip.

Employers really look at this stuff? I'm only on LinkedIn and no other social media. Is being on Facebook that important? I know when I meet new people they give me a strange look when I say I'm not on Facebook.
