While there are a lot of cars I wish were sold here, the Skoda Superb Combi is a car I would actually probably purchase new if it were sold here. Especially if they offered a plug-in hybrid. Why, oh why, can we not ditch the NMS Passat and just start selling the MQB Superb as the new-New Midsize Sedan?!?
And, even that was 2018 only. Now, if you want a Touring, it's 2.0T or Hybrid.
Even crazier, it’s better than my 2007 Civic. Granted, an Si, but still. 23/31. And that was actually revised DOWN to 22/29 in ‘08 or ‘09 when they updated the test procedure. It’s extremely impressive, when you stop and think about it.
It’s funny, you make a valid point, but then get a bunch of comments totally ignoring the point you're trying to make. Why is the mpg penalty on a 5.3 like 1-2mpg for going 4x4, but then here it’s 4mpg? And no difference at all in the city? Something isn’t adding up. It’s not as bad as Ford, but it still sticks out.
This is for someone who likes the GLS450, Discovery, or Q7, but has a little less money. Weirdly, the Explorer isn’t rated to tow as much as the former either, but, gotta protect F-150 (and Expedition) sales.
So, I’ve had jobs doing shift work (fast food, local businesses, etc) where, for various reasons, I would go months without signing up to be scheduled, or maybe working one or two shifts. So does that mean I was never an employee of those companies? I think you’d argue that I was. Same for driving - just because I…
NoHold the phone, 87 CENTS?!?!? IN OHIO?!?!? Lol, we get 60¢/mile in Raleigh, and $6/hr (10¢/min). That’s crazy. I did get kind of pissed, recently I had a long ride to Winston Salem (a decent sized city about an hour and a half away), and picked someone up on the way home. I went in to see what they payed, and I…
It does feel its size. They aren’t narrow, and actually have a somewhat low roofline, making them feel even wider than they are. Great driving, but you do feel it a bit when parking. You can get a 360 camera, but only on the range-topping Advance model - $57k FWD, $59k SH-AWD, or $61.5k Hybrid SH-AWD, IIRC. Expensive,…
Did you actually set out to buy the hybrid specifically, or did it just work out? Curiously, my Mom also bought one in November, but, there were no hybrids to be found, and the couple that could be located were Advance. The hybrid senems like a screaming bargain if you’re already getting an AWD Tech or Advance, but,…
It is quite literally the drivetrain from an NSX, flipped around, and with the 3.5TT replaced with a 3.0NA, put into one of the more engaging 7-passenger vehicles you can buy, at a price you* can afford. I just can’t imagine how you could NOT be at least a little bit excited that this thing exists.
Why does Acura not rate it to tow? Is it a problem with the DCT? Really disappointing, because it’s otherwise such a great package. Also, where do they get the DCT from? Is it shared with another manufacturer? Surely they didn’t make it in-house.

There’s a second Fort Bragg in Northern California? I only ever knew the one near Fayetteville, North Carolina.
Put about 10k on a 911 S awhile back. I almost never used 6th, I always went 5th-7th, as 7th wasn’t hugely taller than 6th. I think the gears could have been re-jiggered a bit to make a 6 speed work perfectly fine, but that car only has a 7 speed manual because it’s the same gears and casing and all as the PDK.

Can we, as a society, please stop casually referring to the Grand Cherokee as simply a Cherokee? The non-titled Cherokee is a thing that exists. It existed before the Grand Cherokee and, unlike the Caravan and Grand Caravan, the two are wildly different. It’s annoying when regular people do it, but the elitist snob in…
So everyone’s all ‘VW! Electricity! Rare! Bad!’, but, this is the same drive train that went into the relatively popular Porsche Cayenne and Panamera hybrids (both regular and plug-in E-hybrid versions), so parts shouldn’t be that hard to come by.
How does this stack up with the other cars that meet the criteria of ‘I value driving dynamics and like going fast, but prefer large vehicles and need something with practicality built in’? You know, certified A7 or Panamera, maybe if Jag does come out with a slightly lower priced XF wagon, a Macan S, etc. Basically,…
