Do you feel the same about Coupes in general? Do you revile the Dodge Challenger for existing? It’s just a Dodge Charger with 2 fewer doors. Large sedans, like SUVs, are at their heart practical vehicles.

Wow, this thing brings up a lot of hate. How, again, is a large all-weather hatchback with good towing capabilities so much worse than any large coupe?
This car is one of the main reasons I prefer 2wd to Awd cars. These things are crazy expensive to keep running, due largely to their all-wheel drive systems. They call them ‘$Matics’ for a reason. The rest of the car will be your typical older Mercedes - I believe these still had the M103 engine, which is very…
I’m hoping other trims/colors will look better, but damn, that thing got beat with the Pep Boys ugly stick, and hard. I mean, contrasting color fender flares? What the hell?
We don’t get every single variant (no M130i, M5 Touring, etc), but they offer us pretty much everything they make in the bodystyles they actually sell over here.
I mean, they’re barely willing to sell us, the most SUV crazy nation on the planet, the regular Q3, which baffles me to no end. I’ve seen one or two around, and I think they’re just now starting to filter onto dealer lots. Would it really be that much of a regulatory hurdle to stuff the S3/Golf R engine in that and…
Ugh, overdone wood trim on any performance car, especially one like a 911, is cringe-worthy. It just makes me think, wouldn’t this person really rather have a Panamera? Or a 5-Series?
Oddly enough, the Sport offers one. I’ve never seen one with it, but it must be frightfully cramped.
Remind me again, what about these is Full-Size? The only one I see that fits the bill is the GL/GLS, and possibly the big Range Rover. All of the others are pretty firmly in the mid-sized category.
Umm, there has never been a factory S-Class wagon. And a W123 wagon in this shape would likely command way more than this.
Oooooo, is that yours? Great choice on the older Monoblocs. I think they look much more appropriate than the newer ones with the tapered, rounded spoke, and of course it makes yours just a little bit different than the run-of-the-mill late ‘Sport’ edition. A must have on any 129 or 140!
I want to say the oil pump shattered, and they wanted to take apart the engine to make sure that pieces of it didn’t get stuck anywhere. Something else happened to it recently too, but I can’t remember off the top of my head. If I can remember I’ll check.
Wow, I never knew they changed the Jag engine for LR duty. Always figured they just plopped it in and retuned it a little bit.
Small clarification, the LR3 was never offered with the BMW 4.4 V8, it debuted with Jags 4.2, and then later offered the hoary old Ford 4.0 V6 in base models.
The V6 does pretty well in this but, overall, I think I’d probably side with the 5.0 V8 as well. Although, we have a ‘10 in the work fleet that just needed pretty serious engine work at something like 60k or 80k miles.
Bluetooth. Sure does make shifting and talking a whole lot easier.
I believe you meant this in jest, but this is one of these ‘it’s funny because its actually very, very true’ types of jokes.
I’m under the impression that this is basically what Porsche did with the current 911 manual and DSG. I believe they use the same basic structure, but I could be way, way off base.
Not at all. Ever since Gen 2, the Escalade (and Denali) come with larger engines with higher output, and Gen 3 (the last one) brought changes to the interior that made it more appealing/upscale. I don’t believe you can get the magnetic ride suspension on the Chevys or regular GMCs (possibly on the LTZ/SLT only). And,…
