My Landrover also has a 90” wheelbase, (more or less) and that has better weight distribution, permanent 4x4 and coils all round. So, given that this has none of those features, I’m wondering just how horrific it is to drive considering it has a V8 to get itself into situations and no rear dampers to help out once you

To me the coil sprung wider track axles, all round discs too as well as permanent 4x4 make it a different vehicle, having owned a succession of Series when younger I really got to feel the difference when I finally got to drive one.

Of course Toyota is not called Land-Cruiser so can hence can rely on it’s strengths of only producing beige, vanilla cars.

I guess the real question here is; For how long?

True that, Land-Rover is all over the whole image, marketing and branding thing.

“the 68-year-old platform”

Actually that was very similar to the SAS Land-Rovers they make for the special forces, which are just a V8 Heavy duty pickup with the truck cab unbolted off. In Lara’s case it had a bunch of silly stuff put on it (because meeja people) instead of the normal machine guns.

I agree with you 100%, I’ve long said the same - that it’ll be an emperor wearing no clothes situation once Land-Rover no longer makes Land-Rovers.

Beavis? Or Butthead, definitely one or the other. Wondered what happened to those two.

R-Rs haven’t got any better looking have they.

As a Brit what twists my melon is a small delivery truck being offered with a petrol V8, I would’t mind being paid to drive that!

Yeah we’re all about equal opportunities for the ugly and the plain.

What happened to Guy Martin then?

This one deserves ALL THE STARS!

Driving lessons. Professional instructor.

“Sensible” can mean “stuff I agree with” so should be treated with some caution, however if we take it to mean pragmatic then I generally agree.

No fair comment I’d say. And I’m a Brit. I can see how UK state could indeed be seen as heavy handed when viewed from the US.

And I have learnt there is such a thing as National Donut Day.

I did this with a stray dog I picked up in Spain, he liked to sit on the passenger seat of my GM / Bedford shitheap van and the sudden looks of horror on the faces of occupants in oncoming vehicles was always fun as a dog drove past.

And this.
