There is a Super Nintendo baseball game (I believe Ken Griffy?) that uses a sanity check of the SRAM but is initialized to a non-standard value. If this check fails, the game will fail to load. So when the battery dies in those games, they are more or less bricked until the SRAM is restored to a sane value- something
