Haven't seen the remake but the original isn't an "accidental camp classic." All of its humor was intentional. And, at least when it came out, was genuinely regarded as a scary movie too.

Yeah, I get it. He's playing a white guy who "acts black." There's no "trying" here at all. It's just a fact that Franco, in playing the character, does the same thing.

I think it's worth mentioning the film's treatment of race, since Franco's character is a minstrel act and the film ends with a SPOILER massacre of black people.
