I didn’t have this issue when my battery on my 2015 F150 was changed. My personal code still worked.

For about $20 I made a cheap awning out of a tarp and pvc pipe that I can attach the back of my ARE topper and extend out over the tailgate. It’s only limited by my tarp size.
