I would add newspapers.com to the list. You have to pay for a subscription (usually around $75 for a year) but if you do frequent research of old news coverage, it's the best archive I've found.

I'm not familiar with Tucson's situation, but I'm curious what the transit situation is like. Is there some obstacle to having buses and trains that move people around? Is it just too spread-out for transit to work? Is it too hot for bikes?

This is a great story and a heroic decision and I hate to be a downer; but it's worth mentioning that, like donating blood, gay men aren't allowed to join the bone marrow registry. (At least not when I looked into it a few years ago ... maybe it's changed since then.)

I don't understand this assumption that a DUI is a "low-level" crime. You could kill somebody! Lots of somebodies! Drunk driving is super-serious, and everyone knows how dangerous it is. It's not just some little whoops-mistake, like littering. Unless your piece of litter is a stick of live dynamite.
