Perhaps Japanese and German manufacturers are not the last word on vehicle technology? I know, I know, the mere suggestion of this is sacrilege on Jalopnik.
Aactually it is. We’re not talking custom hand built vehicles with bespoke interiors etc. that volume doesn’t matter and profit per unit can be large. These are mass produced copies, the only measure of success is numbers sold.
Lincolns and many Fords have the ability to remote start, lock/unlock etc. via Ford Pass/Lincoln Way. This goes further and allows your phone to be used instead of the key fob to start and drive the vehicle.
They’re not getting on lots for sale. Ford is having trouble filling retail orders, much less building for dealer stock. I beleive if they had the production capacity the would have matched or beaten escalade sales.
You do know that the half you didn’t sell just went to another store and bought from someone that didn’t bother trying to set them straight.
The gap from the final 2002 until the next model 2010 is indeed 7 years. The 17 year period he was referring to was between the introduction of the fourth generation (1993MY) to the fifth (2010MY).
Post-collision braking sounds about as useful as post-pregnancy birth control.
I will echo all the negative comments about the exterior, but the dash and switchgear are no better. The cruise control “stick” is pasted directly from the 90s corolla. HVAC controlslook to be of the same vintage BMW. Many controls are placed in odd areas, and the touchpad for infotainment screen controls is aweful.…
Replaced a power steering pump on a car with an electric rack? Probably caused by a defective Johnson rod, or improperlylubricated muffler bearings.
Fully equipped Raptor Crew weighs in a little under 5500 lbs, your estimate was only about 1000 lbs off. The same 1000 lbs is the actual difference in weight between a fully equipped raptor and a fully equipped hilux which weighs in at about 4500 lbs).
100% agree. I have a heavy foot, but when I get behind the wheel of a Ford hybrid all the feedback their displays give you about the hybrid system make it a game of slowing down and driving economically.
Actual purchase prices would be much further apart. The GT will have rebates, subvented interest rates, plus dealers will negotiate on selling price. The Shelby will have no factory incentives and dealers are unlikely to move off sticker.
I agree torque is best for off road, but modern V6 (and V8) engines are not made for low RPM torque. They only make peak torque in the 4k area, and it is a slow climb there. Now examine a modern direct injected turbo charged engine and you’ll find torque peaks in the 3k range, and more of it.
Neither are available with the dual clutch auto, manual only.
It is certainly your right to pay MSRP less factory incentives and expedite the process.
The author obviously mispelled Roush.
It was more than a sticker package. It had an interior with a console shift not normally available in a regular cab. Ford did not (and still does not) offer the 3.5 EB in a regular cab with a short box, and the 3.5 EB was never available with 4:10 gears other than in the Tremor Package.
Daycare is not prison, the children likely go out for excursions to the library or other locations regularly.
I have been to Sedona and rented from Barlow on two separate occasions, a couple of years apart. Beautiful area to see sights. Stick to some of the more challenging terrain (if your driving experience allows) and you’ll avoid the “pink Jeep tour”traffic jams. “Slickrock” is also a major misnomer, the stuff is like…
