But that’s exactly why people hated the first prequel. He WAS somewhat of a mary-sue. (Gary sue?) The later movies it was established he’d had some training, so it wasn’t so bad.

Anakin is a Mary Sue in the first film, which is what makes him such an annoying character. But after that film, Anakin has the benefit from a character development standpoint of having years of training at the hands of a powerful Jedi Knight at the height of the Jedi Order. And not just sitting in the jungle lifting…
