I don't get some of the nastier kneejerk reactions, either. I like when game creators challenge themselves, try something that feels different and even bother to think deeply and express their thoughts about what they're doing.

Psh. The rarest game in the world is in my head. To even think about it you have to be me.

Inevitably everyone will hate on this guy. All the comments up to this point seem to lean that way, but I actually think its a cool statement.

I loooove Kotaku longreads. We need more.

People can't do anything without getting hated on in some way or another.

I've been waiting for a miracle patch like this since I started using Steam 4 years ago. As it is, whenever I'm using the storefront or checking my profile page, I end up using a browser. I can only stand using the client to go to my library.

Kotaku...talking about good web design and user interface?

This is exactly what they said to me in 1998 about Duke Nukem Forever.

The Holy Roman Empire lasted until 1806. The Middle Ages ended around 1500. What is the problem here ?

I'm not stealing it at all, being as it's one of the most popular videos on the subject i think it's pretty obvious where it's from, especially considering it was posted here on Kotaku. I don't own a channel, and i am a fan of Joe's so this is a great example.

But don't worry, i'll credit him just for you lol

Seems you don't understand the situation. Do you know what fair use is? Reviews fall under this and are 100% protected by law in favor of them. Siskel and Ebert didn't pay a dime to movie companies to review them (why would they pay them to shit on their movies?), yet they did and got paid millions for it by showing

Now explain to us how how using 16 seconds of a Ministry of Sound track in a 30 minute review of Skyrim, that contains footage and music from the game, means that all of the revenue goes to Ministry of Sound. Not to the creator of the video, who wrote, performed and edited it. Not even to Bethesda, who owns a large

Translation:

Hey, I totally understand why you'd be saying this, YouTube, but considering how your misguided efforts to fix a perceived problem have just done more damage than good...

We were talking about Google being slow to react on another post, but this is a whole new level. "Turn off the soundtrack on your Let's Play" demonstrates a level of tone-deafness here that is certainly worrying.

How do we get law changed so that if someone believes something is theirs, they must prove it, rather than get it taken down? Instead of random bots that scan stuff, they should have lawyers that put together packages that say "yes, we own X, here is our license to it, please take it down."

Are you implying that Twitch is going to take over as the go-to video sharing service or some new, unknown party?

God I hope so, it would be nice for there to be some serious competition with Youtube.

I highly anticipate the new video hosting start up that will gain popularity next year that will completely imitate Youtube in every way except for this one.

My guess is that Mike Fahey will go nuts and eat the rest. And then write a snacktaku review.
