The premise of his first paragraph is not for you to agree or disagree with. It is reality. Banning declawing will directly result in thousands of cats dying in shelters who would have otherwise been adopted.

If it’s the difference between giving a cat a home and having more cats in shelters, I’ll take the declawing 100% of the time. While having a pet isn’t a right, every pet should have the right to a loving home, and if one of those stipulations is declawing? Then welcome home Mittens!

I grew up (in the 80s) with a (front?)declawed cat. She couldn’t climb trees but she killed tons of moles and birds. She lived to age 19. She was real mean toward the end, biting my feet when I’d go out to feed her.
