@notatoad: have you tried the Netbook Remix of Ubuntu? I find it easy to use and its really good for multitasking, you should try it

Comcast is by far the worst GUI ever, trying to delete a show from the DVR takes about 10000 button presses also there is no way to delete multiple shows so you have to do one by one.
