MK9 pretty much shows what a good MK story is. But be it that it's just retelling the same elements, it also shows that there's nothing wrong with past stories. It fits exactly in the realm of it's own creation, so I'm not sure what else you're expecting really. It's not like it's Mortal Kombat Annihilation. Oh dear...
I didn't forget, it just didn't seem that big of a deal to mention it all. I'm talking about the quality of the story, not every detail of it. The timeline changes are indeed interesting parts of the story, and thankfully it's done well.
