The kid definitely needs to be punished, potentially expelled for distributing pornography but his bad behavior does not excuse hers.
What I interpreted that as meaning is that she wouldn’t have been fired for a nude photo if the kid had somehow stolen it after she did due diligence in protecting it, she was fired because she created the situation that allowed him to get it by not securing her phone.
She did leave unprotected nude photos in reach of minors in an unsupervised classroom. I don’t think she should have been fired but definitely reprimanded.
