Agreed. Maybe it makes sense to me because I have a similar frustration with how all-or-nothing you have to be with a two-party system. I wish we had a system that allowed for multiple parties and coalition governments.

Apparently she was adopted when she was a baby, so presumably her adoptive parents seemed OK at that point. Screening processes can only do so much, unfortunately. (That’s assuming there is one. I think that private adoptions can be pretty sketchy, and I have no idea of what process they went through.)
