I think those directors need to (re?)watch "Rob Roy" to see how a swordfight should be put on film.
Clean, simple, realistic, short, and without over-editing it.
Problem with those characters is that they never go all the way. A hand to the throat is not intimidating enough for a man like Littlefinger.
Start chaining them 24/7 and cutting them alive, piece by piece, they'll change their tune…
They probably ate all the ravens…
"What is that remedy that you speak of ?" "The Boltons."
Well, he does have to take over for me from time to time. Even I need a vacation.
One other high note (though more on the "funny !!!" side) : Arya's reply to Hot Pie's pie recipe.
He could also eat apples…
There won't be anything "suspicious" about them. "Obvious" more likely ! ^^
At least he got us rid of two thirds of some of the worst characters in the show. And Bronn's favourite bad pussy is still around, so he won't care.
Good point. I have a hard time wrapping my head around both Tywin and Roose Bolton letting him wander about seemingly free and clear. Money, whores, information, political intelligence and so forth can only make you "untouchable" up to a certain point… And I don't see how his death would have bothered anybody but him.
Me me me me me !!!!
Louis the XVIth of France could have used a Varys or two…!
As far as I'm concerned, it's a nice change of pace ! ^^
If anything, GRR Martin has never been a fan of simple, pragmatic solutions (the way I see it, the most prarmatic characters were Tywin Lannister and Roose Bolton, and I'm not sure GRRM liked them that much). ^^
To be fair, sending an entire fleet (well, too many ships in any case) to escort a few VIPs to Dorne wasn't smart. Not very discreet !
To ensure that the dragons (insisiting on the plural) could not escape the line of fire would require good three-dimentionnal planning, an enormous amount of ballistas and ammunition, and sheer luck.
Plus, the advantage of having three dragons; which are way more mobile and agile than, say, planes, is that flaking…
Given the amount of ammunition it took the wehrmacht's flak guns to down a single plane during WWII (about, I believe, 7000 rounds per plane downed), even an automatic version of such a ballista with fearless men wielding it would be at best ineffective (or maybe if used as an ambush weapon ?).
Then again, they could…
It seemed to me that this episode was better directed than the "usual and average" Game of Thrones episode, which was nice.
No Bronn, not much Davos, so that's a shame ! ^^
I sincerely hope Jaime has a better character arc than "remains stupidly at Cersei's side until death occurs"…
The fight between Donnie Yen's and Jet Li's characters in "Hero" was also great, as far as Donnie Yen moments go.
