thats funny the USS south Dakota easily ate a 550 pound bomb during the battle of Santa cruz and shot down 26 of the 40 torpedo dive bombers that attacked it and the USS Enterprise.
Except right now it’s not carrying anything. And to make it carry the cheaper stuff it’s going to cost a boatload for a retrofit.

Here’s a thought. Cancel the LCS and the Zumwalt and use the money to build a modern battleship. You know, a ship that can actually survive in the littoral waters the LCS was designed for and do the mission the Zumwalt was designed for, but cant get close enough to shore to actually accomplish.
