Reading “Ancillary Justice” by Ann Leckie. It started a bit...not exactly slow, but it took me a while to care about the story. It’s very interesting. I’m about halfway through. It reminds me a bit of some of Kazuo Ishiguro’s writing in places, or the Hrd character in Scott Westerfeld’s “The Risen Empire”.

Dark Star! With the tickling beach ball alien and the pedantic smart bomb. Love it.

Yes! I only discovered it recently. Amazing. So thought-provoking. Not an easy book. The sequel is great too.

I read this again recently. I'd forgotten how good it was. Especially the rabbit-eye-view of things. Clever without being in the least bit twee.

I loved this too! Titus Groan is fantastic too, but I found Titus Alone rather disappointing.

It's been some years since I read this. Quite a profound little book.

This is the most heartbreaking book. But the opposite of a tear-jerker. Just so matter of fact, and so desperately sad. I don't think I could read it again, although I thought it was excellent.

Is this similar to the stuff that was on the astronaut's suit in The Europa Report movie? They freaked out and wouldn't let him back inside? I think they called it something like "hidrazin" ? I'm not sure I heard the word correctly.

The world of Locke Lamora. The city of Camorr, on the shores of the Sea of Brass. It seems a stunning place - built on the remains of a mysterious inhuman earlier civilization, elderglass towers that glow mysteriously at dusk, canals, impossible bridges... but if you put a foot wrong you end up being the night's

In the book he did. I think more than once? I stopped reading so I'm not sure, but from my online searches several people mentioned this as well.

Basic needs: food, warmth, love, of course :)

I'm very curious about this - haven't watched the show (not available here in South Africa) and probably won't watch it because I had to stop reading the book. That beating. In the book, the writing and characterization is so good that I felt a lot of respect and liking for both Jamie and Claire. And suddenly...he is

Yep. I'll probably Amazon it.

One of my favourite books. I have the green red edition too :) The movie was so disappointing. It's a magical book. Especially the second half, where Bastian goes astray and has to find his way back to what he valued.

Yes! I loved this one too, although I only discovered it as an adult. I liked the other Hatchet books too. Gary Paulsen is a pretty interesting guy.

Oh, I'm trying to get hold of that first Song of the Lioness book so I can read the series! My library only has book 2, 3 and 4. So I'm comforting myself by reading her "Protector of the Small" series :)

So many. But the one that leaps to mind is "My Family and Other Animals" by Gerald Durrel.

My favourite moment is during the whole "how tornadoes work" info dump, when one of the characters asks about the biggest tornado. There's the solemn silence, and somebody says "the Finger Of God".

... The Sound Sweep, by J G Ballard. Magnificent story about super sonic sound traces, and the man who has to clean them up.
