This season's been hit or miss for me. The Cary storyline at the beginning veered from effective to melodrama, the political story has been mostly engaging, and some episodes just plain haven't gelled for me. I thought the Elsbeth episode demeaned her, too, but I really liked this episode because the way they portrayed Alicia's wandering mind was much more subtle and plausible.

Oh nonono — even an experienced actor or tv announcer would have a TERRIBLE time sounding natural under those circumstances. Maybe she could echo the words well enough, but her delivery was also about the emotional content. Repeating an audio prompt would sound incredibly fake and mechanical.

Huh? The quote in that article was from an earlier interview that was just publicized in tonight's review. It's highly unlikely that it was backpedalling. I think it's incompetence.

So as I've already posted in the Expert and newbies recaps: the show meant to present this as a scene that ended up as consensual sex. Really. Honest.

The show THINKS they presented that scene as not-rape. They failed.
