I’d argue its more of a young avengers rip-off, but with x-men. Though this does have a bit of an MC2 feel to it.

The Fire Lord was the kind of villain he needed to be, like Sauron in the Lord of the Rings. When the story is focused on the heroes and their journey rather than direct conflict with the villain, then the villain is more a distant obstacle and needs to just be an evil threat rather than a nuanced character that takes…
If its infinite time loops, that means every person who could possibly be drawn into the time loop eventually will. Crazy twist if the whole world got trapped.
Except its not really about that, its very much about the Joker and his character. In fact, given the version of the world set up, I’d argue Batman wouldn’t even fit in tonally.
Is Joker a genre film? It feels more like a psychological thriller/character piece, based on a genre character. A lot of the traditionally superhero genre elements were stripped out. If it wasn’t referencing a pre-existing genre, is there anything in it that makes it a genre film in itself?
To me it felt like part 1 of something, only to muddle through the last act. Gabriela and her part didn’t amount to much except as an extra tag-along. She didn’t have the backstory of Jake and Adam, or the reveal of Suki and given how cluttered the episode was, they probably should have dropped her.
Emily’s border-line I think because she changed her mind at the last minute, and yeah the baby store clerk counts. Although to be honest, there whole relationship was toxic. Makes me wish Rachel had gone to Paris in the end. Maybe I’m wrong but I think in the years post-friends people favour Monica and Chandler more…
To be fair it was only three times (four if you count Emily but she didn’t actually do it in the end), one time she was drunk (didn’t expect it to happen and tried to stop him hearing her message) and another it was her sister. Bonnie was bad, although the fact it worked proved how shallow Ross was.
Agreed, and Chandler did make mistakes but improved a lot over the series. Ross, Joey and probably Monica (because how she drives everyone up the wall) deserve be in the bad place. Rachel I’m on the fence.
Wow, imagine if your first time seeing Ghibli films was on the big screen so close together?
Whether it is or not probably depends on one’s beliefs, i.e. it isn’t such a fantasy if you are religious and actually believe in angels (though probably not as they are depicted in the film). Even if you don’t, stuff based on actual religious belief can more easily not be classified as Sci-fi/Fantasy if it otherwise…
Maybe its not about need, maybe they just want to rule the universe? Or, they have some idea of taking a primitive culture and bring it to their level. Aliens don’t always have to be motivated purely practical reasons to invade Earth.
This needs to be a movie, end of second act one goes back to the show after they confess their love, then big third act reconciliation! :)
The Simpsons, season 8, episode 15, ‘Homer’s Phobia’. Aired in 1997. Amazingly, one of the few times this whole trope was knocked down and the homophobic person was the but of the joke.
Given that the show is supposed to be about fighting the patriarchy, it seems weird that they’d have a forceful male guide who looks like a 50s dad. Unless he turns out to be the villain of the first season.
Wow, this is starting to sound like what they did to the Black Panthers in the 70s... scary.
The funny thing is, this happened in early USA, when it was originally majority British or people of British descent, before immigrants from other European countries and their descendants came to outnumber them. Some even suffered discrimination but now there is no issue. If past Americans agreed with Carlson about…
Maybe its some kind of Kree military suit, which she later gets the chance to personalise, like maybe it has some camouflage function, and she uses it to change the colour?
A lot of republicans have been shown to be against net neutrality. It makes sense, as losing net neutrality only helps internet providers but hurts everyone else who use the internet, even businesses. Its why the likes of Netflix and Apple were against losing it.
I haven’t really followed the series much, but is she like a female version of doomsday from smallville, as this genetically engineered super weapon from Krypton, who initially leads a human life until they find out what they are and go evil.
