Shatner is a good actor, but he needs direction. Just from watching any random STAR TREK, you can tell by watching Shatner whether the episode was directed by a Joseph Pevney or a John Erman or a Ralph Senensky or whether it was directed by a hack like David Alexander or Herb Wallerstein.
