They don’t get SMILF in Europe? That’s a Shameless.

There’s so much to love here. His shameless self promotion, his putting words in people’s mouths, his conversation manipulation, his conspiracy baiting.
Or woman.
: Narrator : He could, but he wasn’t going to.
I got about 2 episodes into the new season and gave up. It’s just so... boring. The plot is so convoluted and half of it is recapping the convoluted and confusing shit from the previous Netflix season. It doesn’t flow like it used to.
“You know usually when you’re talking about inflation, you guys, you probably notice, you know, is that a good thing…
This episode isn’t that great and there aren’t many laughs in it but I did appreciate that show is immediately trying to explore the state of the Michael/George-Michael relationship and to repair the Maeby/George-Michael relationship.
: Narrator : he was okay.
I’ve actually been finding GOB’s late-in-life sexuality crisis to be one of the funniest threads. “I’m just really swamped with work/am I gay/Buster’s in jail.”
I watched the half season in four episode blocks and this really is where it starts to pick up. The weird pacing and tying off of (some of the)leftover storylines comes to a head in this episode and the next three were noticeably more full of laughs.
“Oh so now they’re keeping us out of prisons we built?”
It’s weird that WHAS did “Sorry, our cast is now too busy to show up full time” jokes much better than AD, but I guess it helps that WHAS is more surreal and tries to tell only jokes, while AD still wants to tell a somewhat coherent story.
This nailed the format so perfectly I expected to find out it was written by John Mulaney. Even throw aways like like “DJ Bear Dick,” “I Have a Beat feat. The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King” seem to have his imprint.
It was written by Meredith Scardio, who’s credits include At Home with Amy Sedaris and The Colbert Report. …
I think the joke of Tobias wanting to give up a good job to become an actor works better the more competent he is at therapy/counseling.
Uhhh... are we watching different shows? This was by far the best episode yet of s5 and the entire Netflix run. I laughed out loud so many times and then laughed some more out of the sheer surprise of genuine mirth. Everything here was hilarious and heartfelt. Micahel and George-Michael under the water having their…
Did anyone else find it kind of refreshing to see Tobias displaying a degree of competence as an “analrapist” this episode? Like, he was still Tobias, but it was nice to be reminded that he was actually once a well respected licensed therapist who assumably had to work for a degree.
I’ve been watching and it was amazing what an aimless slog the first 4 episodes are compared to the second 4.
The documentary bio from the previous episode is also worth mentioning.
I’m about six episodes in and as one of season four’s major defenders, this is not very good. I’m six episodes in and it has its moments but season four (for good or bad) had so many different things going on to keep you interested while this season seems to have barely any plot at all. After doing a full series…
I thought it was very funny. I’m glad they’re back.
