Not at all. There may be 10 songs to get rid of, mostly the little dinky things. But the rest of them are all great; that’s why that album remains such an exception, and such an exceptional winner, arguably the best album of the ’90s. It is the long-ass album non plus ultra.

I think part of it is the death of the B-side. No one releases singles with B-sides anymore, so all the tracks that WOULD be B-sides are just thrown on the album, because, eh, why not? There’s a definite sense in the streaming age of “Here’s a bunch of songs we recorded, YOU the individual audience member pick EXACTLY

“That I’m a piece of S-H-you know what-T.” It’s i. You know what is i.

Factual numerical statistics aren’t projection—that’s why I included them. And I’ve already answered this too.

I’ve already addressed all this. See previous comments.

Besides the fact that many people hated Season 2 (it lost a viewership of 15.8 million viewers from Chapter One to 4.6 million viewers by Chapter Nine, by one metric, a mathematically literal illustration of disappointment), and besides the fact that every major historical example directly disputes your claim, I’ll

I watched both seasons, loved 1, hated 2, as I said. I’ll always maintain Season 1 is great, and it’s also entirely self-contained. It needs nothing more. I sure as hell won’t be watching Seasons 3 through 38. I would’ve stopped watching Season 2 at around episode 3, but my wife was still invested so I tarried on. I

That’s an extremely charitable take. You may have a future as a career diplomat.

Yeah, that regurgitated groupthink really DOES take the wind out of my argument. How can I be right when I’m outnumbered?

Sheesh, haha, that first paragraph is some straight Dave Barry shit.

Ignatiy lives for Pure Flix.

I hear you, BUT!...

I just instantaneously purchased and downloaded the single songs I enjoyed, I own them forever, and I didn’t have to overpay for a whole mediocre album containing them, nor did I have my home cluttered up with physical packaging (i.e. garbage), which costs more than the digital equivalent anyway.

I thought the same, until I actually listened to this lot. Lots of gold herein!

Probably the most charitable interpretation I’ve ever read, of any art. An accomplishment in its own right.

People are rightly down on this episode because it’s shockingly bad. The fact that it has some meager references to trainspot is not to its credit, but to its detriment, because those are included in the dearth of actual quality. Eleven had her groove at the beginning of the episode, “lost” it when she wouldn’t kill

Let’s be bold and call a spade a spade: This episode was an F. It did not have any redeeming qualities, and it has no reason to exist. While the second season is overall much worse than the first (and entirely unnecessary), this episode is the height of needlessness. It doesn’t affect the plot one iota. The anarchist

Commenter kind of missed the point.

Don’t know what a troll is, do ya?

This is the kind of nuanced, thorough, educated, balanced, calm, contextualized reaction that is despised by messageboards. Terrific work.

Excellent middle paragraph. That course BARELY counts as “anthropology.”
