It’s really terrifying how so much of the country doesn’t realize how terrifying this truly is. Hell I even think this applies to me, and I do find it terrifying. But I feel like I should be, I dunno, out demonstrating in the streets or something as opposed to being psyched for baseball season starting in under two

only good people die young. trump will live into his 90s. it’s less taxing on the body to not have a soul

At least I know, no how big a fuck up I am in any walk of life, no matter my qualifications, or lack there of, I will always be qualified to be president of the United States. Everyone used to tell me I could be anything I wanted. I thought it was just lip-service. All the other presidents during my lifetime seemed

I have a very serious question. What does Donald Trump actually do in a given day as the President? Because it sure seems like all he does is watch TV all day long.

Not even that. His supporters have literally given up on reality. If Trump said he is Jesus incarnate these idiots will believe him.

Every act of resistance is useful. If the press hadn’t fallen all over themselves to normalize him and give him free publicity, he would not be President-Elect.

Harry Reid, our nation’s highest-ranking Mormon (for now...) just publicly gave her props, too.

Good! I am glad she is getting support from folks in her community!

Kudos to Jan. We have to fight back because the last time the GOP controlled this much of the government the depression happened the following year and Hitler and Mussolini rose to power.

Introspection typically isn’t something associated with organized religion.

because this man isn’t normal. Nothing about this is normal in any way

On the one hand, as she said at the end, this is a moral issue. Any person with decent character and a pinch of integrity would not celebrate Trump’s inauguration. So, really, she just did the right thing. As she should. As they ALL should.

Thank you for your thoughtful response. I appreciate the attention to the fact that this isn’t just a performer refusing to perform for someone she disagrees with - this is someone for whom music is deeply tied to faith.

Nope. They’ll continue to hate Muslims, gays, and unwed women who enjoy sex just as before.

She’s amazing and lots of Mormons are cheering her on!

Well damn, I respect the hell out of this woman. Her reasoning was so thoughtful and clear. I hope many others follow her.

Beautifully put.

I can’t imagine how painful the MTC’s decision to perform at the inauguration was for her. She makes many strong historical and theological points in her facebook post, but I am certain the immediate reaction was one from the gut.

Bless this woman for having the courage and conviction to make this choice. She could have just not volunteered to go but instead she saw what just associating with a choir that is performing for this man would mean. Even if performing is not political there is still a sense that those who perform tacitly support the

As a person familiar with mormon culture, this chick is a bad ass warrior for the people who will be facing some serious backlash. Stay strong, Sister Chamberlin.
