I like the list ! Although as someone who was an 8 year old kid , but a lover of pop music in 84 (and later as a lover of music that was released when I was a kid )I’d probably have picked some other songs

Dakota Johnson AND Timberlake? Wow that is 100% a must miss for me. What are we even doin’ here, guys?

Yes. Sade shouldn’t have been left out.

Also “Hot For Teacher”, at least the guitar work and the drum intro.

It astounds me that “Smooth Operator” is from that year. It sounds so much more modern, I would have pegged it from the early-90s.

Why? Why? Why would you pick “Turn To You” over “Head Over Heels?”

As a pre-teen in 1984 who credits Belinda Carlisle for rocketing me straight into girl-crazy puberty, I’d still never heard Turn To You until today.

Coming from a country where Frankie Goes to Hollywood absolutely dominated the 1984 charts in a way no new band had done since another popular beat combo from Liverpool 20ish years earlier, it’s very jarring to see Echo & the Bunnymen as the city’s only representatives in this list.

They can clone him! Throw in some frog DNA just to see what happens.

Awesome! I hope it leans into the horror more. Let one of the child characters get eaten, dammit!

I’m ok with this. The Jurassic World franchise was so bad that I’m ok with forgetting it ever happened and letting someone try again.

Well yeah, but it wasn’t out of respect for her privacy.  It was because if he names her she’ll have no choice but to publicly say yes I accused him of groping me because he did grope me, and there’s no way that turns out good for him.

Why does this sound like someone trying to get ahead of a damning expose that is about to drop...

Also loved Lorraine’s bit tonight: “This has nothing to do with that book. This is from an older time, written on stone tablets in the age of the skull-fuckers.”

It’s great that a season so preoccupied with evil Republicans takes place in October and November 2019. The show never mentions it expressly, but that means the jump ahead to the sunnier, more optimistic One Year Later takes place in early November 2020 — Trump losing reelection.

I was thinking people would see the end as too overtly Christian -- eat this round piece of love bread and be forgiven. But that was the point, wasn’t it. Practiced vs performative.

I have seen a lot of people quoting Lorraines line about freedom with no responsibility makes you a baby. Fitting and true.

They’re unrelated so you can dive right into this one (although highly recommend watching season 1 & maybe even season 3!)

I have no idea what to make of that yet. I’m sure there’s some meaning I’m not grasping. Was the curse real? Is there some mythological parallel to this I’m not aware of? Mostly, what the hell did I just watch?

Still eligible for this role next year, thankfully. My guess is she’ll submit last week’s episode.

Where TF is Juno Temple?
