The problem Episode IX faces is the problem Star Wars faced before Force Awakens came out: the seriously commuted nerds have been mentally constructing their own Star Wars movie in the fermented nostalgia brine of their own head for 20-30 years and no actual real life film will satisfy the loosely constructed…

I’ve never had a problem with updating sets or makeup but I cannot get past the Disco Klingons. They don’t look updated, they look like a different species.

Or Ren, having abandoned his attempts to become Edgelord Vader, simply goes all junior-league Palpatine, except without that character’s capacity for patience and caution, thus threatening the entire First Order’s project (which would also explain the “turncoat Hux” rumors for Ep. IX).

The challenge for the MCU Phase IV and beyond is finding a new character, or characters, to function as the kernel around which to sustain the new movies.

Kylo Ren isn’t a very good villain. He’s just a pathetic incel with a lightsaber, and I’m very much looking forward to Rey putting him out of everyone’s misery.

I’ll never understand the folks who whine about the upgraded sets on Star Trek. The only reason TOS looked the way it did was their budget. I guarantee if Roddenberry had today’s budget and effects to work with, TOS would look very different.

Yeah, but it’s not like the year Chase was on was so much better. Seriously, we’ve all been watching “best of” compilations for years, but go back and watch a full, unedited episode sometime. If there’s one funny sketch in five, it’s a good episode.

I want this very much, especially as you could back-door a few more characters like Shang-Chi, some villains that can recur.
