Not “might” need one, but “do” need one, and maybe on a regular basis.
But then you’d have to spend money to rent a trailer. Or if you bought one, you’d have to find somewhere to keep the trailer, you’d have to occasionally put new tires on it, pay for it’s registration every year and worry about it’s theft. On top of all that, your car would have to be capable of towing it.

A car is a big financial decision for the average person, the average person being the majority of people. So large that most people can’t afford multiple cars, so they tend to go with one that will suit their needs best. Electric vehicles check very few boxes on the abilities list.
Interesting point. I tend to wonder what the core is. Such a vast differentiation in logic between these two lineups.
