I caught it. What's Ginsbergs connection to HAL?

What's with the 2001 references again this week? Still trying to figure out Ginsbergs connection to the HAL9000? He lip reads Lou and Cutlers conversation, and that seems to be the catalyst for his freak out. That's the same thing that sets off HAL.

I think some might argue that episode had a Luddite streak in it.

Rust doesn't put that much thought into his actions? All Rust does is think.

Nah…I liked Sucker Punch the first time, but it didnt hold up on repeat viewings like Watchmen did.

Yeah, that's pretty much how I remember it too, so it's kind of funny when critics are claiming Cohle's meanderings are "freshman dorm room talk". Where? At the Sorbonne?

Rupert Sanders is a Hollywood hack. I hope this thing, along with all the live action versions of classic anime's, never sees the light of day.

I was 17 when Nirvana hit, and absolutely fell in love with them, but I can't remember ever really being a fan of "grunge", per say. I only liked a few cuts off of 10, and didn't even get into Soundgarden until the late 90's. I always felt like a lot Nirvana's fans(myself included) came more from the punk and

I'll have to go back and check out his reviews of Girls, but needless to say that show's 15 minutes are up, and other than HBO attempting to turn Dunham into some kind of feminist icon, it serves no purpose as either entertainment or anything else. Judd Apatow is a complete putz, and way too rich and famous when his

For all Cohle's railing against the futility of the universe, love, and relationships, deep down he would love to be wrapped in the warm cocoon of family for the rest of his days, especially since that was the thing that was yanked away from him by life with no warning.

Marty quite literally had the answer to the secret's of the universe in his grasp, and let it all slip away. That's the real reason he went bonkers. It wasn't the BJ.

Indeed. Those tit's are the answer to life's ultimate question's.

Yeah, much better to post mindless snark. Why does an intelligent conversation have to equal "pretense" with some people? It's the same with critics that keep calling Cohle's digressions "Philosophy 101". That's the definition of pseudo-intellectual and not people that are engaging in a real, critical discussion.

I loved Thin Red LIne, and Tree of Life for the most part, but could not get a handle on "To the Wonder".

Hell, yeah. The music playing over the first appearance of Ledoux, and that plays over the credits, is fantastic. Not sure if it's the same music that plays over Cohle's first hallucination scene though, which would constitute a theme.

Yeah, according to wikipedia Malick taught philosophy at MIT but because his film's have philosophic underpinnings they're "philosophy 101", in the shallow minds of film critics. Right, same goes for Cormack McCarthy.

I disagree. Every criticism of Cohle's dialogue, while also coming from the same type of "I think I'm so smart", snarky, entertainment reviewer, is smearing the substance of his argument, and without ever actually engaging it, either. It's actually straight up arrogant too, and speaks of a smug sense of entitlement.

No, not at all. I liked Watchmen, and 300, too. I even kinda dug Sucker Punch on first viewing, but later realized it was a giant pile of crap.

Yeah, well, Sucker Punch sucked even though Emily Browning looked really cute.

I kinda like the movie. It's obviously nowhere near as good as the comic, but I definitely didn't hate it and thought it was well acted, and directed, and visually interesting.
