I was honestly shocked to read the full Polygon interview and the quotes from the creative team and the tone was just SO different from how they made it sound.

It’s really sad what this site has become. It used to be full of genuinely good writers with spirited discussions about entertainment. Now it’s full of hacks who like to shit on other sites / people for spreading misinformation while doing the same shit themselves.

I didn't even need to look at the byline to know who wrote this article.

It’s also a very questionable representation of the tone of the Polygon piece where the topic came up fairly organically along with several others.

So if the family provided permission and was part of the process, why is there a suggestion of controversy?

An AV Club newswire is disingenuous? To drive clicks? Well, I never! Next you’ll be telling me that their copyediting is shoddy.

My problem with sending up the “I’m Just Ken” thing is that it seeks to tweak a performance that was essentially satire in its original form. I hate when a sketch parodies something that is a goof to begin with...it’s like doing a “spoof” of a Weird Al Yankovich song - very pointless and a little lazy.

I know it’s becoming the norm, but this feels fairly disingenuous.

Originally set to host a May 2022 episode late into season 48...”

It was a fine episode, nothing special. C to C+ feels right. The Barbie filmed piece was the best of the night. Funnily enough, I thought Davidson was better here in sketches as a host than he ever was as an actual cast member.

I remember the first show after 9/11, Lorne Michael asked Rudy Guliani in the cold open, “Is it okay to be funny?”

I didnt hear it at first , but I went back and listened again , I think you’re right.

I liked season one, but something about season 2 didn’t click with me. I think the novelty wore off. It’s a shame though.

Sylvie should have gotten a job at Burger King instead. Did you know you can get a refill on any drink you want there, and it’s free?

I think think part of the problem is the gap between Loki seasons. In S1, Mobius did a fantastic job of breaking Loki. Remember that this isn’t Movies Loki, it’s Loki who didn’t get to experience Frigga’s death, the destruction of Asgard, or his own death at the hands of Thanos.

I agree that this episode did not help establish what Loki really wants. He really wanted to to tell everyone about Kang in the premiere, that’s fine. And then he wanted to find Slyvie because... ? I guess because he saw her in the future? Was he that hot on finding her before that glimpse?

But now that he found her..

I enjoyed the episode, but I do agree that Loki’s motivations seem pretty amorphous at this point.

It’s almost certainly him (Sean Giambrone). He plays a main character on Solar Opposites and seems to almost exclusively do V/O work. Can’t speak to the voice in particular as I’ve never seen The Goldbergs but all the clues add up.

That “oopsie” when I lost it and did the plot the The Avengers.

One really cool touch is that the entire scene between Loki and Sylvie is filmed as if they’re played by the same actor. Either we’re only seeing one of them in close-up, they’re standing far enough apart that it could have been a split-screen, or the camera is far enough away that a stand-in could be used.
