I think that irrespective of one’s comedic tastes, there are probably very few people who think movies are a better vehicle for comedy than television. I’m certainly struggling to think of any movie that’s got more laughs on average than anything in my top ten sitcoms. A movie still ostensibly has to tell some sort of

This is a good take although I feel it was the later aughts and early 2010s that did in movie-theatre comedy for me.The early aughts had a string of amazing, generational comedies that a lot of people deride these days but were incredibly popular an successful and people still quote them, even if its a guilty

Comedy!

There aren’t as many comedies getting theatrical releases but, really, probably 90% of the comedies in the ‘00s that got theatrical releases were garbage.

Regardless of your opinion of her movies, she’s not entirely wrong.

Mid to low budget comedies have kind of died down quite a lot. Save for what gets produced or shown on streaming services, there just aren’t as many comedies getting theatrical releases as there once were. These recent movies also seem to play things a

Ironically, on Disney+, not ABC. 😜

Well that’s not remotely surprising. Every single Disney remake, even the ones I like such as Cinderella, always seem bloated compared to the original. The Beauty and the Beast one especially feels like someone just extended every scene 5 minutes too long. I’m sure Bailey is really good and I wish her well in future

Did I miss when we as a society decided that Lin-Manuel Miranda sucked? Because it seems like a lot of the commentary around this movie is just making that base assumption, and I have no idea where it’s coming from.

Every character has an erection during the wedding ceremony. Bold choice.

The Rock is so in his own world that he’s never realize his ego was being checked.  Look at the denial he is in over Black Adam

Live-action Frozen. It’s coming at some point, 100%.

I’m watching Jury Duty, which seems fairly harmless and the actors are entertaining (except for Marsden), but Joe Shmo looks cruel and it’s a shame the public gets off on that, imo. I wonder if they do some kind of psychological testing beforehand. Don’t know how I’d feel about being played like that.

Certainly worth a rewatch.

Well, it has been in the news recently, so strike while the iron is hot.

Yeah no they aren't gonna find a better Moana.  The Rock was a lot of fun in the original but I'm of the opinion Auli'i was the big standout.  She was absolutely fantastic, comparable to Paige O'Hara as Belle.  I don't see anyone doing as good, but this project in general is just a massive question mark of why one

Moana was SEVEN years ago. Is their next project a live action remake of Strange World?

Yeah, I don’t know.

I think the ship has sailed a bit on suddenly doing dvd releases for their older stuff now. I have many issues with Warner brothers discovery, but they’re surprisingly good at striking with their home media stuff a decent amount of time after the show plays.

Whenever I buy something on physical media, I immediately rip it so I can stream it via Plex. All those media files are on one of two RAID-5 arrays, so there’s redundancy built-in and thus I have both the original copy and that digital version on disk.

I would like the Disney executive who made this decision to break the news to my 10-year-old who rewatches The Mysterious Benedict Society every month.
