Sounds like they didn’t buy your mortgage, but only bought the servicing rights. Your mortgage maybe owned by another entity, Deutsche bank, Fannie Mae, whatever is on your deed of trust.
Servicing rights will transfer over the course of your mortgage since the company that owns your loan will pool other mortgages…
