Finally finished Embassytown, which is really good, a Sci-Fi-Book that deals with an aspect of Sci-Fi that's often overlooked (alien language, and how language reflects and influences thinking). I also read WE3, which is short, bloody and surprisingly moving, considering the somewhat ridiculous premise.

Oh yeah, Highlander 2. Isn't the shield owned by some evil corporation that everyone has to pay because they would otherwise shut it down? And they can't shut it down because that would blow up the earth? And the main bad guy is a total idiot who accidentally makes Lambert immortal again instead of just letting him

How can a movie starring Coolio and Udo Kier possibly be bad?

Isn't Zodiac somewhat comparable? I admit that i didn't see Day of the Jackal but the article describes it as detailed procedural, which sounds very similar, although Zodiac doesn't show the killers perspective.

I decided to catch up on Paul T. Andersons óuvre by watching Boogie Night and There Will Be Blood. Both excellent movies in their own right, but what stuck out most for me is how amazing they look, perfectly capturing their respective eras visually.

Warren Ellis said it best: "It's an absolute distillation of the superhero genre. No plot lines, characters, emotions, nothing whatsoever. It's people posing in the street for no good reason. It is people getting kicked, and then exploding. It is a pure comic book, and I will fight anyone who says otherwise. And

Don't know if many people will agree with me on this, but i'd call Nextwave: Agents of H.A.T.E. perfect. Does it have clever subtext? Nah. Does it make grand statement about human nature? Nope. Is it the funniest thing ever put on paper? Yeah, pretty much. I don't think any comic ever made me laugh so hard. Also:

Good call, i'd say Portal 2 is perfect as well - i'm still amazed they somehow managed to use an achievement ("The part where he kills you") to complement a joke.

Personally, i'd put Last Crusade up there with RotLA. It's imho the greatest action-comedy ever made, enthralling and funny in equal doses.

I'd probably put Transmetropolitan in this category. I always thought it wrapped up too nicely, with Spider ultimately triumphing against all odds…but then again, i can't really figure out a better way to end it. Everything else would probably be anticlimatic.

Super Mario World is a great example of a game that's easy to finish but hard to complete. I can more or less reach the final boss with my eyes closed, but some of the optional levels still make me want to break my controller.
I can also say nothing bad about Super Mario Galaxy 2. Pretty much the perfect 3D-Platformer.

Strange and Norrell is one of those books that hit me completely by surprise. I read a review somewhere and though "Eh, i'll give it a shot". Then i blazed through the thing like it was nothing. It's remarkable how it manages to never drag despite being really long.

I agree on Thief - The Dark Project and The Metal Age are both games where i wouldn't change a single thing. Here's hoping they don't screw up the reboot.

I like Wind Waker, but i think it could have used a few more dungeons and a little less ocean.
My favorite Zelda game is probably A Link to the Past, which is imho pretty much the perfect sequel: it keeps the spirit of the original Zelda while doing it's own thing.
I'm also a big fan of Skyward Sword - fidgety controls

I always preferred Up your Arsenal over Going Commando. Apart from that, i concur.

Maybe "Somebody Down There Hates Me" would have been a better title.

How about Slig meat? Slug-Pig-Hybrids may be disgusting but they apparently taste delicious.

I always assumed that blocky pixels taste like rock candy. Or maybe like Jell-O cubes?

At least he didn't crave for the cloned human meat from Transmetropolitan.
