-Many people find vocal fry grates on their nerves. It’s the sound of “I can’t be bothered to take a proper breath. I can’t even be bothered to lift my head off the pillow. I can’t even. I just can’t. It’s just a habit that bugs lots of people. Aren’t you in control of your own voice? Do you want to sound that way?

I think there is a bit of sexism to the calling out of women in particular, but I think part of it is also that vocal fry stands out a lot more in women’s voices because they’re higher to begin with. The difference is more stark.
