Dick Wolf started in advertising. Do you believe that advertising is completely useless and corporations spend billions a year purchasing it because they’re deluded?

If there’s anything I know by now, it’s that people are totally capable of understanding they’re watching fiction and still develop an understanding of reality based on that fiction.

Its a problem when law makers and journalists assume its accurate and law enforcement see it as a teaching tool.

To be fair to HBO, they frequently hire porn actors for scenes like those. Obviously setting boundaries is important for porn actors as well, but I suspect they are far more comfortable with HBO-level nudity and are unlikely to feel pressured into going beyond those boundaries on the HOD set.

I assume these are the same “fans” of the show who were shocked to find out that a character that looked like a Nazi wet dream and was named “Homelander” was meant to be a villain.

I particularly like the idea that you have a finite amount of empathy to use and that you could “waste” it on someone.

I’m not sure why farming the abuse out to someone poorer than you is the solution to promote.
