Considering you can get these on ebay for $60 I doubt they are the same ones being used by major police forces. These are probably old stock, overstock or just something meant to be used private companies.

Something that I want new cars like this to usher in due to everything being rethought is license plates. They need to be changed and embedded into the cars computer. No reason to have metal plates anymore or paper temp plates that get stolen all the time. Plates are a complete waste and need to go just like gas cars.
