Agreed, I threw in the Dinan sport tune interference bluetooth dongle, the throttle response change was deifnitely noticeable.

Pretty much my exact line of thinking, “what can I get for under 20k with AWD, reliable(ish), easy(ish) to work on myself, and not a goddamned WRX or Audi?”
The pandemic made travelling to either coast to buy a manual in a good color a nonstarter, and after shopping them for a year I knew that I would be in for a hell

I really wanted a wagon, but I also really wanted an inline 6. Props to them for making an M3 Touring.

I finally got just the setup to practice this very thing without jacking any real equipment up! So far I suck around 2/3 of the time, but every now and then, when I don’t blow the corner entry entirely like a panicky child, it feels pretty nice.

Their lineup through the twenty teens made it seem like none of the teams communicated with each other, there was also phasing out of some models and half baking features from those dying ones into another number/platform... I’ve tried to make sense of it a few times

The Bentley book covers the sedan, touring, and GT and I have only ran into one instance of somthing being specifically for the GT, with that being geometry stuff like control arms, but sourcing hasn’t been harder than any other BMW part right now. Like the unobtainium EDC struts and shocks. I am backordered on a set

It often gets immediately associated with the monstrosity 5 series GT, and the hate for that thing’s appearance is very justified.

For a long time I couldn’t figure out what to call it until I started seeing people calling the Audi A7 and the like liftbacks. Fastback doesn’t seem right on a 4 door, and hot hatch doesn’t quite work because the weight.
It is a wierd one, and all the things that make it not a pure drivers car are the ones I bought it

Not too many people are doing their own work on them either, but there are some good posts over on f30bimmerpost in the F34 section that have kept me pointed in the right direction. I wanted to learn to work on this platform (n55 and the 2 piston front brakes, struts, control arms etc) to then score a 135 or 235

I got a liftback/long wheelbase “hot FAT hatch”/whatever the hell you want to call it for under 20k a year and a half ago, but it is the bastard son of the BMW 3 series, the F34. in 335ix form. They ride like an inch and a half higher than the regular sedan, and none were offered with a manual, they had flappy paddles

Typo, it is 273 per the fun reveal twitch thing.

Hopefully the produce enough, and supply chain issues have mostly worked themselves out, by the time they start selling these so we don’t get a dealer markup nightmare on non limited editions.

I know a guy who can do it cheaper!

This cracked me up way more than it should have, I completely understand. There was a solid six month or so period where I would get shaky nervous every time I flew after I wrecked my first “trainer” drone into a cliff face and subsequently raging river below. Makes it tough for fine precision when your thumb is

I am also all for the new writers finding their voices and learning the fun way! I feel like the commenters here have been pretty harsh, but I get there is also some bitterness to seeing the changing of the guard under not the best circumstances. Definitely enjoy these Friday work break threads, it is better than folks

The lifter tick we got with the oil pump, but I wasn’t confident enough to also get the valve seals while we were doing it. Even though you have to lift the engine into the firewall to get clearance to get the oil pan off and is fairly involved, it was the first and subsiquently only major job I did on the thing and

As a lifelong video game... person, it was second nature after getting the gist of it.
Do not fight windy days, doesn’t matter if it is your only chance to get the shot, do not fight the windy days. Every time I have wrecked, I was fighting less than optimal conditions. Night and wind.
That is when you have a bad flight.

I’ve been using DJI Mavic Minis since they came out to skirt the 250 gram “get a license” limit, the fly more kit ranges from 350-600 depending on the SE or the 2.
The main issue when you finally get confident in skill enough is the speed limitations of the drone, which is around 30-33 mph and less up here at

Congrats, getting a house is major.

Monteros are effing brilliant, I got mine at 218k miles and it sits at 305k and runs like a champ albeit puffing ghosts at stop signs...
